Our Beliefs

The Well, through guest focused, inter-generational experiences in safe spaces provides sustainable life-impacting opportunities which bless the community, our neighbors and those in need.

The Well exists to CONNECT people to Jesus. The Well’s time and resources are used in providing extravagant hospitality; offering inter-generational, guest-friendly and relevant worship experiences. Excellence will be promoted throughout the “Sunday morning experience”.

At The Well all are encouraged to ENGAGE in relationships that develop faith. There are seasonal and on-going small groups for adults. Children and youth participate in excellent, age-appropriate discipleship ministries in partnership with parents.

The Well SENDS disciples into our community to serve and spread the love of Jesus. The Well organizes church-wide giving projects, develops campus signature ministries and provides resources that enable groups and individuals to serve on their own and in organizing outreach events.

Core Values

Living like Jesus – Romans 12:4-21, Hebrews 6:1-3 (from The Message translation), Ephesians 4:15

Jesus is our example of what it means to love God and neighbor. We want to grow more and more into Christ’s likeness by growing closer to God through worship, study and prayer, by serving our neighbors and sharing the Good News. Living like Jesus calls us to lift up the oppressed, to be generous and to humbly stand for what is right.

Intentionally Nonpartisan –Philippians 3:20, Hebrews 13:14, Matthew 6:33, Ephesians 4:2-3, Micah 6:8, 1 Samuel 8:4-7, 19-20

As followers of Jesus, our primary allegiance is to the Kingdom of God not to the kingdoms of this world. Jesus calls us to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with God. This kind of social justice transcends the either/or mindset of today. In humility, we do not choose political “sides” or engage in disparaging rhetoric. Instead, we strive to be proactive, living out Kingdom of God values, and connecting people to Jesus above all else. When it comes to divisive political issues, we seek – and will follow – an alternative way inspired by the teachings of Jesus.

Inclusive of All –Luke 15:1-7, Luke 14:7-24, Galatians 3:26-29
Jesus was sent to live among us, as one of us, because God so loved the whole world. Jesus shows us how to love and welcome all people. Following Jesus’ example, we will work to intentionally include persons of all abilities, sexual orientations, identities, races, generations, positions, opinions, and circumstances in the full life of the church. We believe that church provides the opportunity for all of us to live in intentional community without hierarchy or judgment.

– In January 2020, The Well updated and expanded our inclusion statement to include: The Well will host LGBTQIA+ marriages and will support the ministerial call of all people. As the issue of LGBTQIA+ inclusion continues to play out within the United Methodist denomination, The Well will learn about what this means for the church in the larger context.

Caring for Kids – Luke 18:16 (from The Message translation), Proverbs 20:7, 2 Timothy 1:14

Jesus went out of his way to welcome and care for children. Our hearts break when a child goes hungry, homeless or doesn’t get the loving care they deserve. We strive to see that all kids in our community get the support they need. Our church will be an intergenerational people, that will nurture and guide children to accept God’s grace for themselves and lead a Christian life. We are committed to raising up young leaders who follow the teachings of Jesus.
