Kaleidoscope: A Ministry for People of All Abilities
The Well’s Kaleidoscope Ministry provides support and opportunities for successful and meaningful experiences for all people. The ministry encompasses CONNECT, ENGAGE and SEND.
Connect
The United Methodist Church recognizes and affirms the full humanity of person-hood for people of all abilities as full members of the family of God.
Supported by the Kaleidoscope Team, The Well’s church family welcomes all visitors and members with intellectual, physical, developmental, and/or psychological and neurological conditions or disabilities. The Well’s facilities are accessible for all those attending worship, fellowship and Christian education. The church family is encouraged to recognize and receive all people’s gifts so that everyone may be a full participant in a community of faith.
Each year, the Kaleidoscope Team takes a Sunday to lead worship in order to further connect our community of faith with the lives and challenges of families.
At The Well, all are welcome.
Engage
The Well wants every child, youth and adult that may have intellectual, developmental, physical or mental health challenges to be in an environment where they can learn and flourish. Through the Kaleidoscope Team, The Well provides person centered learning by using the G.L.U.E. process (Giving, Loving, Understanding, Encouraging). Staff and volunteers work with families so people of all abilities can learn about our loving God and Jesus Christ.
Once a year, The Kaleidoscope Team invites people from the congregation to attend a symposium on Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. Open to the community, the Kaleidoscope Team also sponsors presentations focusing on Mental Health.
Send
Carnivale! has returned to in-person gatherings! Our first event was Friday, Jan. 20, 2023. We’re introducing Carnivale! 21+ on March 3 at 6pm. We require all interested families to complete the form above, new and returning.
Carnivale! is a respite care ministry for parents/guardians who have children with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities and their siblings. It allows parents/guardians to have some time to refresh themselves in order to take care of the demands of parenthood. Dinner, snacks, music and activities are all part of the kids’ evening. The program includes siblings.
Carnivale! 21+ is a new program for young adults ages 22 to 35. Families should bring their young adults at 6pm and pick them up between 8 and 8:30pm. A snack will be served. This program will be less structured than a normal Carnivale! and will be designed so that participants can socialize with each other, dance and maybe watch a movie. All activities will be in the Family Life Center.

The Shamrock Ball
The Shamrock Ball will return on Friday, April 21, 2023! The Shamrock Ball is a dance for students in grades 9-12. Kaleidoscope partners with the National Honor Society of Rosemount High School. We’re very excited to continue this partnership with these high school students.
This is a prom for high school special education students:
- at Rosemount High
- who are members of The Well
- who attend Carnivale!
Students who have graduated and are in a transition program are also invited. National Honor Society students from Rosemount High join in on the fun as escorts. Highlights of the evening are the Grand March, the dancing and the memories that all students take away with them.
