Welcome Dr. Don Mortenson

SPRC would like to welcome Dr. Don Mortenson to The Well staff as an interim Pastor for a one year appointment. Pastor Don, also known as “Mort,” will be starting his ministry at The Well on Monday, May 23rd. The SPRC team and the Leadership at The Well want to spend this next year assessing the long term ministry needs at The Well and our outreach to the community. Don will care for our congregation and community during this year of assessment and strategic planning for the future ministry direction at The Well. 

Pastor Don will partner with Pastor Sherry in providing ministry to the church in the areas of pastoral care, community development and support, spiritual formation, and ministry to our “50 to Floyd” congregation as we continue to pray and assess the long term ministries needed at The Well.

Pastor Don will begin his ministry by working with the Caring Ministry Team to provide Pastoral Care and Support along with launching support groups for our church and community. He will also be working with other leaders in our church and community to launch Recovery Ministries and outreach care
and support.

Pastor Don comes with extensive ministry experience as a pastor in the church for over 25 years, and as a Seminary Professor of Pastoral Care at Bethel Theological Seminary. Pastor Don has also served as a police chaplain with Ramsey County Sheriff, and the City of Whittier, CA Police Department. 

Pastor Don and Pastor Sherry have often spoken together at marriage and family retreats and conferences around the country and continue to provide support and counseling for couples and families through their non-profit ministry, Ephraim’s Refuge.

Don has a Masters Degree in Student Development, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Studies. Don’s undergrad degree is in Forest Management. As the Assistant Dean of the College of Natural Resources at the University of WI – Stevens Point. Don taught Natural Resources classes and worked with the Tribal Leaders in WI and MN. He has a passion for the outdoors and caring for God’s beautiful Creation.
